Welcome to our new farm adventure. Our plan and our hope is to provide a forever home to neglected/abused farm animals, grow some crops, and live a peaceful life in this beautiful Chatham County community.
Our adventure began in August 2018, when we found 7 acres of pasture with woods and a pond for sale in Chatham County, NC. This photo was taken from where our new home stands. As we stood pondering the land, we were overcome with peace. Nature sounds permeated the land. We were quickly smitten!
Our first year was spent designing the layout of the farm, the barn and the farmhouse. Bill developed the design which we brought to an architect for official blueprints. Meantime, we found a builder who quickly became a friend. Carl Caldwell of Triangle Classic Homes, Raleigh, NC, is one of the most patient, accommodating, professional general contractors. Carl and his business partner, Ralph Rohn, are true to their word, always on schedule and, in fact, often ahead of schedule.
We are excited that, 17 months after this new farm adventure began, we got our Certificate of Occupancy today, this last day of January 2020.
Once we move in and get settled, we hope to fill these fields with formerly farmed animals who need a safe and loving place to call their forever home.
